Ultimate Cloth Review

When I was first approached to review this product, let me tell you I was a bit skeptical at some of the claims made. Claims such as the ability to clean with just water and that it would leave a streak free finish. When I actually received it in the mail and before opening it, I was a bit more skeptical. How could a cloth not much thicker than a paper towel do everything this one claimed to do? Let me tell you though, that once I opened it, my opinion of it indeed started to change for the better.

This cloth is the one found at The Ultimate Cloth website. When I opened it and gave it a few tugs, I was truly amazed at it's strength! You see, it's made with "Exclusive MiraFiber Technology." It's guaranteed to last for 5 years of general use.

The Ultimate Cloth is great for everyone including those who have gone totally green or those who are just trying to incorporate some safer green practices into their lifestyles. You can use this along with all natural cleaners including vinegar and baking soda for safe, all-natural cleaning.

My personal experience with The Ultimate Cloth

I really wanted to test this out to prove the streak free claim of it. I simply wet it with plain water and tried it out on my bedroom window. I waited for streaks that never did show up. I also tried it out in my bathroom sink, which did have a little extra soap scum built up, thinking that I would be able to use just water for this task as well. I ended up contacting the company and was instructed to just use a little bit of vinegar to do the trick.

I'd really like to point out that this is a very versatile cloth. It can be used indoors on things like windows, mirrors and floors as well as outdoors in autos, motorcycles and boats. I don't have a swiffer, but also found on the insert that came with it, that it can replace swiffer refills and you'll never need to buy them again. The Ultimate Cloth can be washed and reused time and time and time again.

*This product was provided to me free of charge for review. This review was posted in my own words and from my own experience. I was not otherwise compensated in any other way.

My Entry For the Kia Sorento Ultimate Road Trip Sweepstakes

If I could take my family anywhere on a road trip, I would have to head south. My mother in law is there. She has not yet met my two youngest children. If you read a few posts back where I talked about Giving Back this Holiday Season, you have somewhat of an idea on just how hard our lives were up until just earlier this year. I haven't visited my mother in law since my husband was discharged from the military back in 2004! He'd went a couple of times alone to take care of some business and to try and find a job there, but we couldn't afford for all of us to go. I've sent pictures and that's as close as she's gotten to seeing my 1 and 3 year olds. My mom also moved south last year, so we'd definitely have to make a stop there to see her too.

This blog post was written in response to this one over at Momlogic.

P.S. Please leave a comment, because if this blog post wins, a random commentor will have a shot at winning a $100 giftcard to Target!!

Aquafresh Iso Active Review

As a member of SheSpeaks I was sent a full size sample of the new Aquafresh Iso Active toothpaste to try out. I have to tell you that I am impressed. It comes in a can which was the first thing I noticed different about it. When using it, I noticed that it has a mild foaming action. One thing that kind of nagged me just a little was getting past the aerosol taste of it, but I think I forgot all about it by around the third time using it. Compared to the toothpaste that I used beforehand I must say that my teeth felt cleaner with less work on my part after using this toothpaste. I would like to use this toothpaste again. I did check the price of it at a pricier grocery store and it ran in the $4 range, but I do believe that I can find a better price with a little shopping around. My hubby too noticed the difference. He voiced his opinion without my asking, which is something he normally does when he really likes something. I would definitely recommend giving this toothpaste a shot.

*Disclosure* I did receive a free full size sample to try out. I was not otherwise compensated. The views/opinions are those of myself and my husband who actually tried and liked the effects of this toothpaste.

Giving Back This Holiday Season

Most of my readers don't know my story, so let me reveal to you who I was up until just earlier this year....

My husband is a veteran. He was honorably discharged in October of 2004 due to several health complications. We moved from California to Southern Illinois, because my mom was there and I wanted to be near her. If I had any way of for-seeing the hardships that we would suffer, we would have better planned things out. I won't get into just how difficult things were for us, but let me just say that sometimes I ask my husband how we made it with such a little for so long.

What i'm trying to say is, we were the family on the other side of the glass, standing out looking in, waiting and hoping for better. We'd gladly accept handouts when someone made the offer. I'm one who loves to see a smile on my children's faces and the joy I feel in my heart when I know that they're happy, so we had to swallow our pride on several occasions and sign up for this and that, a meal here, bill assistance there so that our needs could be met and so that our children could feel like children.

I'm so thankful to God that things are looking up for us right now. The VA has helped my husband get a job and not two weeks ago gave him an increase in his disability payments. We're making it off of one income, but compared to where we were, I can not complain.

That life wasn't one that we'd asked for, nor ever expected for our family. When my husband was still enlisted we knew that next check was coming and we'd always have some place to stay.

What i'm trying to say is you may never know where you'll end up in life. There are many families that can use our help. We've not done a whole lot, but I do know that every little contribution helps, because a little from many equals a lot. Personally, we've contributed a small amount to the Salvation Army via the bell ringers that stand outside in the cold trying to collect for those in need. I made a small contribution to a fellow blogger and also won a prize from her, which I was able to put back into the bag to be given to someone in need. I'm in no way bragging, but just trying to make a point that every little bit helps. A dollar or two here and there.

I want to let you know of a campaign going on right now that I found out about through Twittermoms called K.I.D.S. (Kids in Distressed Situations). K.I.D.S brings hope and self-esteem to children in need and their families by providing new clothes, shoes, toys, furniture, books and juvenile products donated by leading manufacturers and retailers. The donations move through their network of community social service agencies in the U.S. and abroad to reach children who are ill, living in poverty, or are the victims of natural disasters.

For every pair of Robeez Soft Sole purchases, Stride Rite will donate that pair to K.I.D.S (Kids In Distressed Situations) through December 23rd. I'm sure there's a baby in your life for whom you can purchase shoes. And in so doing, you'll be helping out another baby who's less fortunate. Please check out Robeez Season of Giving for more information.

The Most Surprising Gift I've Ever Received

I'll have to go with a camera I received. The first one I ever recall owning with the screen on the back. I'd received a tote for Christmas and though that was it. I seriously thought my parents were trying to tell me I was too old to receive the fun Christmas gifts until I realized that tote was heavier than it looked like it should be. Inside was the coolest camera EVER (back then anyway, well to me.) Of course I felt salty for doubting my parents would just cut me off, but at the same time I felt really good, because I had a camera that even my mom wanted.

This is another post prompted by this one over at Twittermoms and if you're still shopping for Christmas gifts, be sure to check out some great holiday deals at Target.

Getting Kids to Bed on Time (and getting them to stay there)

I have four children and it's not always easy to get them to sleep, but I want to encourage those of you trying that it really is possible with a little effort and persistence on your part.

1. Routine.

Bed time for mine is 9:30 pm. My husband thinks they should be sleeping a little sooner, which probably is the right thing, but for now this is their time. We didn't always have this established for them, but as their bed times began to get later and later, we agreed that we'd set a time for them. Starting off definitely wasn't an easy thing, but persistence pays off.

2. Wear them out

Not only is being active good for keeping kids healthy and in shape, but it's a good way to really get them to sleep. When we take our kids to the playground or otherwise let them just really play around, it's a given that they're going to get tired and want to sleep. Just be careful not to let them get off to sleep to soon, because they may end up wanting to wake up in the middle of the night or too early the next morning as a result.

3. Keep them warm

I've heard it said that as a natural process, your body's temperature raises a bit to get you sleepy. Well you can help this process along when it comes to your children. A nice warm bath before bed or something warm to drink should do the trick.

4. No sweets before bed

This is sure to give them more energy where they'll want to stay up and play. If they're hungry before bed, try snacks that don't have sugar such as vegetables or peanut butter crackers. Also be sure to not let them overdo it because it's quite difficult to sleep on a full stomach as well.

5. Lights out.

Sometimes when we send our children to bed we hear them just gabbing away and have found several times that they have the lights on. Once we have them turn them off and just hush, they're asleep very shortly thereafter. Now if you have a child who is afraid of the dark, a small nightlight and/or stuffed animal seems to do the trick.

I've written this post in response to this one over at Twittermoms where the first 100 bloggers have a chance to win prizes from St. Eve's Kids. I've also been asked to direct you to Drama U where there are some cute little toons that you can check out and an interesting contest going on that you can enter.

I would like start off by saying if you have a daughter who is into clothes even in the least bit, this is the site for the two of you to check out together. My daughter is only 5 and she really likes the site. Want to know what's so cool about it? Your daughter can choose one of the basic designs of the outfits they have over there and from there select the color and different other things that she wants to add to it. Your daughter becomes an instant fashion designer. As you can tell, I must really like this site too, because i'm so busy telling you what you can do that I haven't even given you the link yet. This fabulous site is called FashionPlaytes. If you click through the link from my site, there's a special deal where you can get $10 off your first order of $25 or more. Isn't that a great deal? I sure think so. So here's the link again: FashionPlaytes. Check it out for yourself.
