Travel Easier with Travalo #Giveaway #bglu

And what is Travalo? They're the cute bottles pictured above that make it easy for you to take your favorite perfume with you wherever you go, be it by foot, car or even plane (because they're aircraft approved). Would you like to know how easy? Well, check out my video embedded in the left sidebar.

I don't think it could be any simpler. I mean, there's a little window indicator right on the bottle that lets you know when it's full and the same window lets you know when you're about to run out. When it is full, the Travalo is capable of holding 65 sprays. It also comes in guy friendly designs. Perfect size to fit into a stocking (as in Christmas), or purse, or pocket.

The Travalo comes with a lifetime warranty and retails for $21.99. It is available for purchase at select U.S. and Canada retailers, and also online. Just check out the Travalo website.

One of my readers is going to win a Travalo in time for the holidays.

Zoobies #Giveaway #bglu

Zoobies are adorable plush animals that make for great buddies for your child and they're ideal for inside playtime. They are also a great naptime buddy that have a blanket zipped inside. I know that my kids would love to have these on hand whenever we take our next roadtrip.

One of the first things I noticed when I took my son's new blanket pet out of the box was how soft it is. I noticed that it didn't have those sewn on shank eyes which are hard and can be uncomfortable for sleeping and can also pose a choking hazard for young children. This makes me appreciate even more the thoughtfulness and consideration that went into making these pets.

I also appreciate the generous size of the blanket that's inside, which is perfect for my 3 year old who, by the way, is tall for his age. The blanket measures at 44"x34". It is made of coral fleece and zips off, making it machine washable.

Zoobies are also available as Slumber Pets, which come as oversized animals and are designed for sleepovers, Blankie Babies which are designed for newborns and toddlers and also as Storytime Pals featuring characters seen on television and in storybooks.

Thanks to Zoobies, I have the privilege of giving one away to one of my readers.

Happy Thanksgiving

There is so much to be thankful for and this blog post is dedicated to just a few of those things. I'm thankful for God and His son Jesus and for His Holy Spirit. I'm thankful for family and friends. Although I don't have everything I want, i'm thankful because I have everything I need and our lives have been sustained. I'm thankful for my husband and children; the addition of our new one this year, and the addition of a new niece just a few days ago.

I'm thankful because despite all of the sickness that has hit my loved ones in this year alone, God saw fit to spare our lives. I'm thankful for a loving church family and i'm thankful for extended family.

I'm thankful for you, my readers, because my blog just wouldn't be the same without you. I'm thankful for every brand that had enough faith in me to give me a chance. I could go on and on because there are just so many things to truly be thankful for, but i'll stop just after I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

Coffee House Style Coffee at Home with Torani and a #Twitterparty #SSTorani

I recently had a family member tell me that he was so addicted to a particular drink at a particular coffeehouse that there were times he would have to choose between buying this drink or buying himself lunch. With the cost of these coffee house drinks and knowing how much people love coffee, I could definitely see how this could present a dilemma. On top of having to make that choice, there's the getting up earlier, crowds and having to wait in line. There is a solution thanks to Torani.

SheSpeaks recently sent me some Torani syrups to try out for myself. If you can make a cup of coffee, you can do this. It's as simple as adding milk, or whatever type of dairy (or non-dairy) product and then adding the Torani syrup of your choice.

I was really impressed when I saw the flavor choices. There are seasonal flavors and everyday flavors. I was sent the Hazelnut, which seems to be the favorite around my house so far. I was also sent the Gingerbread, which was just a bit overwhelming. I think that maybe adding less of the Gingerbread syrup and adding sugar to replace the sweetness would probably fix that. These syrups don't have to be limited strictly to coffee. On the Torani Facebook page I even saw where someone used Torani syrup for honey almond chicken! I'm definitely interested in trying out some of the other flavors.

Torani syrup costs about the price of a cup of coffeehouse coffee and there are 25.4 servings per bottle. You can save an extra 10% by clicking that will be at the bottom of this post.

I also want to share with you that there will be a Twitter party where you can win Torani products for yourself. It will take place tomorrow, 11/17/2011, at 9pm EST. There will be over $500 in awesome prizes! RSVP and find out full details by visiting SheSpeaks.

*As a member of the SheSpeaks blog team, I was sent Torani syrups and coupons for this campaign. No further compensation was received.

#Winit New Carmex Lotions Review and Giveaway #bglu

IMG_8002If you’re constantly washing your hands and doing dishes, then I’m sure you’ll agree with me that dry skin is an unwanted, yet unavoidable problem you’re constantly faced with. Colder weather and the damaging effects it has on our skin is now here, which for me usually makes dry skin even more of a problem. Dry skin is not pretty and can be itchy and irritating. Carmex, the makers of the popular lip balms, now makes lotion and cream for your skin. I’ve tried them out and let me tell you I personally appreciate the way they leave my skin feeling.

When you first put them on, you get that familiar scent that you’ve come to associate with Carmex if you’re familiar with their products… times about 10. I mean it makes me just want to close my eyes and take a deep breath. I even found myself smiling while enjoying the fragrance that it gives off.

The healing lotion contains aloe and vitamin E and is designed for daily use. The healing cream contains 9 healing ingredients and is designed to help repair dry, rough skin. I like both of them because they leave my skin feeling smooth and moisturized without feeling greasy. Read more on the product descriptions by clicking here.
Carmex healing lotion and healing cream are available at Walgreens, CVS and Walmart. The full size tubes have a msrp of $5.99 and the purse/pocket size tubes have a msrp of $0.99.

One of my readers will be winning a kit containing a full size and a purse/pocket size of each of these healing lotions and creams as the set pictured above.

Veteran's Day Freebies

I received an email with the following info to pass along. This Friday is Veteran's Day, so if you know any veterans (please note that active duty personnel qualify for some of these deals) , please share this info with them:

Messy Moment? Who? Me?

With five children, these moments are inevitable. Yeah, I get the whole breast-milk accident thing. This is usually after it's processed through one of two ends of the baby's body, though. There has been no getting around blow-outs. If there's a mom who survived the diaper years without having a blow-out, i'd like to know her secret. Seriously, my newborn has me feeling quite like an amateur. He's gotten me more times than I can count and he just made six weeks.

So Your Kids Don't Like Fruit? Try This Fruit and Yogurt Parfait

This parfait is simple to make and tastes good. It's a great way to get the kids involved, and older ones can even do it on their own. You'll need:

  • Vanilla Yogurt
  • Fruit of Your Choice ( I chose Pineapples and Grapes)
  • Crushed Graham Crackers or Granola

If you have smaller children i'll advise cutting the fruit into small pieces.

Start with a layer of vanilla yogurt.

Add a layer of fruit and then crushed graham crackers or granola. Continue to alternate in this way until you have the amount desired. That's it. I told you it would be simple. :)

Did you notice the DS on the table? The kid enjoyed it so much he had to free his hands of a video game.

A Better Thanksgiving Day and Turkey #Giveaway #bglu

Thanksgiving Dinner Plate 2
The most enjoyable thing for me when it comes to Thanksgiving is getting to see my family that I grew up with together under one roof again. There are 8 of us kids, and between distance and having our own families and responsibilities, there just aren't many other times during the year that we are able to do so.

The obvious next thing is having good food which includes a nice spread of main dish choices, sides and deserts. Growing up, this was the responsibility of us girls and my mom. We may not have appreciated the work we put in so much then, but those are days we reflect on now as adults; the time we spent together in the kitchen, the late nights, chit-chatting while waiting for everything to get done, the sweet and savory scents that filled the house and finally the payoff of enjoying the benefits of our labor when everyone would come together.

The only thing that really presents an issue with me is the planning and preparation, which I usually fail to do early enough in advance. I mean all of the food from year to year is pretty much the same, but there's always wanting to make sure everything is just right. I usually end up waiting until the kids are in bed before getting a good start, which means I end up being up really late and not wanting to get up the next morning which means we're sure to eat later than everyone would prefer.

Thankfully Butterball understands that sometimes we can use a hand when it comes to preparing for the big day that Thanksgiving is to so many. I was recently on the Butterball site and was pleased to find out the proper way to stuff a turkey. I also enjoyed seeing a video in which I learned a much neater way of carving a turkey. If you're wondering what to serve up alongside your turkey, they have recipes and they even have a help line (1-800-BUTTERBALL) where you can talk to an expert who will offer advice on making your holiday celebration even better!

Butterball is also providing two of my readers with a turkey (coupon good for a turkey up to $15)
