I remember as a kid being excited to just be able to see eggs any other color than the ordinary everyday white. Not something my family did a whole lot of, but we kids would look forward to going to church on Easter Sunday because along with the treats in the bags we'd received after dressing up and quoting speeches, we'd get to see multi-colored eggs.
PAAS is a name that i've been hearing for years. It's the one name that comes to mind when it comes to egg decorating. And this year they've really stepped it up with not one, but EIGHT new egg dyeing kits. How's that for egg-straordinary?
Some of my favorites include:
This 3D variety.
I think the Chrome Eggshaust one just looks cool. Looks like a great way to get the boys involved without feeling like they're doing something girly.
The Deggorating Doodles kit is great for anyone who wants to egg-spress their creative side. Decorate them your way.
Then there's this Go Wild kit where you can decorate your eggs with giraffe spots, tiger stripes and more. You can then add sparkly sequins. Release your inner fashionista.
You can find these along with the other four kits at major drug, grocery and mass merchandise stores for a suggested retail price of $2.99 - $5.99.
A parent arrives at the park. You warn this parent that a potentially poisonous snake has been spotted at the playground, but he says his child wants to play. By the way, you notice he has a machete. You watch from a distance. The snake surfaces. The parent just sits there and attempts to do nothing to the snake, even though the snake is nearing his child.
This is about how i'm feeling with the news that the FDA has decided against banning BPA. Despite the known dangers that products containing BPA have. I means these guys are supposed to be there to protect us. They had the authority to say remove this stuff and protect our citizens and they chose not to. I'm convinced that the lobbyists had a lot to do with this decision.
I learned even more about the dangers of BPA, including that it causes recurrent miscarriages, intestinal damage and behavioral changes in children. I also learned that it's even used in more products than I originally knew which include water supply lines and dental sealants! I had no idea about the dental sealants. Otherwise I would have been declining that "extra protection" for my children's teeth.
I do applaud companies like Rubbermaid who have taken on the initiative to remove this chemical from their products, but hopefully you agree with me when I say it's time to make these other companies accountable. If enough people stop buying their BPA laced products whenever possible, I think they'll get the message.
I try to look for products that specifically say BPA free. I've stopped buying freezer meals that come in the plastic containers. I also found an interesting chart at Healthy Child Healthy World that I hope someone will find useful for products that are not specific on whether or not they contain BPA. Stand up for your well being, the well being of those you love and the well being of future generations. Stay away from BPA.
That said, you've probably heard of the Pillsbury bake-off where annually a recipe developer wins a cool million. But did you know that you can also find some very delicious recipes on the site? Recipes ranging from appetizers like these mushroom piroshkis:
to savory like this beef and mushroom pie:
comforting like this pepper herb beef stroganoff:
and sweet like this caramelized peach upside down coffee cake:
Dishes that can be served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Many of these recipes make use of refrigerated Pillsbury products which allow you to save time while still making dishes that can wow for any occasion. I also like how the site is categorized where you can search based on ingredients that you have on hand.
Making it a little easier on you and your pocket book, you can print money saving coupons that you can use on Pillsbury products at Walmart.

I am fed up. I often read top Yahoo news stories, and today I came across one that talks about how Selma Blair breastfeeds her child whenever and without hesitation as the need arises. I should be able to insert a big SO WHAT! Matter of fact, it shouldn't be an issue. A few weeks ago it was Beyonce breastfeeding little Ivy.
Well, i'm Milcah. I'm not known by many. My baby is pictured above and he, like all of our four children before, is breastfed. It's been the sole sustenance of his life. It's still his primary source of nutrition, and I wouldn't trade what i've been naturally able to give him for anything. There are times where someone makes a sudden loud noise that scares him. When nothing else seems to comfort him and he's just crying his little heart out wanting some consolation, putting him to my breast does the trick.
I go back in my mind to our first child and the first time I can recall breastfeeding in public. We were living in California, and it was a nice day for a walk. My baby was no more than a few weeks old. We'd stopped at a store and baby started crying because he was ready to eat. I wanted to have him wait for me to be able to get to a place where I could have more privacy, but it was my mom who insisted that I feed him because he's hungry. My baby was hungry, and I had the tools pre-installed on my body to take away those pangs of hunger. I covered him and did what should be able to come naturally for any woman who so chooses to nourish her baby.
I do try to make sure i'm always discreet with it by covering up as I personally feel that's the way any woman should approach breastfeeding. Sadly, though, this isn't even always good enough. I read a story that a fellow blogger shared where a mom, although covered when breastfeeding, was asked to come back for the business she was trying to take care of because she chose to take care of her baby's needs.
To those making it so taboo, don't you eat when it's time? Are you going to head to a filthy bathroom or otherwise go into hiding when you're ready to eat? Well how can you expect me to punish my little, helpless infant when he's hungry?
It amazes me how women and babies are in essence valued below animals when it comes to breastfeeding. I never read of anyone trying to stop animals, and I don't expect to because breastfeeding is a natural process that is automatically powered on with the birth of a baby. I mean it's ok to expose breasts on the streets, in movies and wherever else, as long as it's not to feed your baby? When will we open our eyes?
Yup, they're as comfortable as they look. These are my slippers from Nature's Sleep. Pink, soft, they contain memory foam and they're all mine.
It makes a big difference when shoes are made from the right materials. I've been through shoes that, though cute, have left my feet feeling awful. And somehow when your feet feel awful, it has an affect on your whole body and even your attitude.
I've been battling a virus or whatever this bug is going around here in the Midwest and it was just the sweetest thing to me when my daughter wanted to offer me comfort. She simply grabbed my slippers and the gesture along with the softness and warmth really made a positive emotional difference.
Nature's Sleep products also include mattresses which range in size from Twin to California King. You can also find Pillows, Toppers, Foundations, and Beds for your Furry Friends. I was surprised to find that they also have products designed to be eco friendly and others designed for one time use to provide for sanitary and hygienic conditions.
My impression of Nature's Sleep thus far is definitely a positive one. A company concerned with the comfort and safety of it's customers and the environment.
If you're interested in making a purchase from Nature's Sleep, i've been given a code to share with my readers where you can save 50% off of any purchase! That's really generous if you ask me. That code is BEARS50, and you can enter it during the checkout process.
I've also been given the privilege of giving away a pair of Nature's Sleep slippers.

Have you ever found a movie or show that you enjoyed as a child and you had to get it to share with your child? Just kinda leaves that little giddy feeling inside knowing that you can share something with your child that you enjoyed as a child. It also brings back that "The way things were" feeling. Well that's what TVFlashbacks.com is all about... and for me it proved to be even more.
Pictured is the selection I chose. Who doesn't remember Heathcliff? Does Carmen Sandiego ring a bell? Are you smiling, or singing a tune or perhaps even recalling a specific episode right about now? Then there's Gadget Boy and COPS, two I can't say i'm familiar with from my childhood, but they look like something my boys would enjoy. I also chose a couple of I Know dvd's because as someone who wants my children to succeed at education, I felt this would provide my younger boys with a headstart.
I'm pleased with the selection and the prices aren't bad. There's even a promotion going on now until April 15th where you can save 25% on your purchase. Just go to this TVFlashbacks page enter code TVFBKIDS25 during the checkout process.
I've also been given the opportunity to give away a set from the Animated Kids selection. One reader will be able to select 5 DVDs to have a TVFlashback moment of your own.

The first time I can absolutely recall trying Ghirardelli was when my hubby was still enlisted and we were going to a Hockey game. It was the Caramel squares and that first impression was definitely a positive one. I've come to expect nothing less than a pleasant experience with Ghirardelli chocolates.
I received an email from SheSpeaks with an offer to try out these new Milk and Truffle chocolate squares from Ghirardelli, and of course I hopped at the chance. When they arrived, I was on my way out, and was suffering from pain due to a blocked salivary duct. My bad. I tried to have an indulgent experience while in a hurry... and in pain.
Finally, my moment came. Pain gone. Kids asleep. Just this bag of chocolates and me. I reach in, open one and take a small bite. I like to let chocolate melt and smear on my tongue. This way i'm able to get the full message that this chocolate is trying to relay to my tastebuds. A sweet, creamy, perfect combination of flavors. When I finished the square, it was just the perfect finish to have that last melted chocolate on my index finger and thumb to enjoy.
Afterwards, I happened to take a glance at the ingredients and noticed in dark print Hazelnut. I don't normally buy hazelnut products for myself because personally i've found it just a little less than exciting, but somehow Ghirardelli has combined hazelnut to perfection with their chocolate. Another reason to love Ghirardelli. They can take blah and make it outstanding.

I may be about to embarrass myself, again, but until recently, as in within the past month, i'd never read The Lorax. I checked and it was written in 1971. Some of you may be asking yourself right now just which rock I lived under.
I'm glad to have had this opportunity because I learned that Dr Seuss was more than about entertaining kids of all ages, but that he found a way to relay an important message to generations to come. That message is to conserve the earth's natural resources. The Lorax has a subtle, yet serious way to make it clear of the devastation that can take place in our environment if the earth's resources continue to be selfishly used.
The theme of the Lorax fits perfectly with Seventh Generation, whose goal is to provide consumers with non-toxic, green products. These products include Free and Clear Overnight Diapers and Training Pants that are free of fragrances and latex, which is very thoughtful because babies come with sensitive skin. They're made with renewable resources and they're free of chlorine processing, which means less chlorinated products released into the environment.
Seventh Generation Free and Clear Overnight Diapers and Training Pants are there to see you through from the time your baby is a newborn until you have successfully potty trained. The diapers range from newborn through size 6 and the training pants sizes range from 2T through 5T. They also:
- Are designed to last through the night or during prolonged travel.
- Improved with more flexible tabs to provide even better fit
- Have an absorbent core made with more renewable, plant based materials
- Feature stretchy, tear away side panels for a better fit and added convenience, as well as inner leak barriers for superior leakage protection.
One winner will receive a copy of "The Lorax" book and also a pack of Free and Clear Diapers or Training Pants.

My kids love yogurt. Although i've never particularly asked them what they love about Trix Yogurt, i'm pretty sure it's safe to say that it's the fun varieties; the names of the different Trix Yogurt flavors totally appeal to them and making it even more desirable to them are the side by side colors that they sometimes like to stir and mix together.
Trix Yogurt has now been reformulated which is great news for us moms. There are no more artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners or high fructose corn syrup which means we can feel even better about giving it to our kids. Trix Yogurt also provides a good source of calcium and Vitamin D.
Thanks to Yoplait and MyBlogSpark, I have a pretty awesome prize pack to give away! It contains:
- (1) VIP coupon for a free 4-pack of Yoplait Trix yogurt for kids
- Yoplait branded items including an insulated lunch tote, ice pack, backpack, folder, zippered pencil pouch, pencils, erasers, and pencil sharpener
