Giveaway: Basic Talk Home Phone Service

There are some good reasons that I can give for having home phone service. For me personally, i’m a stay at home mom and having a home phone is the way my husband and I keep in touch and the way we contact our children when we’re out and about. I don’t see the need to have a second cell phone around the house when it’s where I am most of the time anyway.  Having home phone service also adds the ability to perhaps cut back on the amount of minutes you need to purchase each month. At $10 a month, Basic Talk home phone service offers a very affordable way to keep your existing cell phone service while having the convenience of a home phone.

More about Basic Talk

phone service offers unlimited calling within the United States (). There is no contract and there are no hidden fees. You can also keep your existing number if you’d like, or just get a new one at no additional charge. Included with the service are voicemail, caller id and call waiting. You can also set it up to be able to make 911 calls. If you ever have questions, you can connect with customer service online.

The Basic Talk device was very simple to hook up. I had my 11 year old handle it and he got it done with no problems and didn’t have to ask any questions. You need to have an existing internet connection as well as a home phone. The other components which are included with the device are a power cord, and an ethernet cord to hook up to your cable modem which come included with the device. You can purchase Basic Talk at Walmart and also at Walmart.com. Looking at Walmart’s website, you get the first month free with the purchase of the device.

I did and unboxing video so that you can see what is in the box and also an additional video with my final thoughts and a small sample of the call quality.

My Thoughts on Basic Talk

Honestly, I am quite impressed. The quality is really good. The party on the other end is clear and that seems to be the case on the receiving end as well. Every once in a while there may be a temporary and short term dip where i’m told I can’t be understood. This may very well be due to how our wifi signal occasionally drops down a little. Otherwise there’s internet surfing, going on as well as tv show/movie streaming when a call comes in and the quality is just fine. Basic Talk is an affordable and useful service that I would recommend if you want or need the addition of phone service in your home.

Thanks for this opportunity. I was looking for reviews of this product online and discovered your YouTube video. Are there delays in your communication? I tried another device and I would say something then there was a delay about 2-3 seconds (1001, 1002, 1003) before the other party heard what I said, then the same delay for me to,hear them. Just wondering if this device has that issue too.

You’re welcome. It honestly seems to do pretty well and without the lag. I’m satisfied with the quality. I’ve used magic jack and I know that there is an occasional lag with it and I found it frustrating to have to deal with the updates and the customer service experience was not fun. I will also say that the problems we faced with magic jack were before we increased our internet speed, so I can’t say if that may have improved the call quality or not. Thank you so much for viewing the video and stopping by.
